hullo!yes, i have decided to start up a new blog at long last!
friendster blogs are jst not user friendly, which make uploading pictures and blogging very annoying.
and jings offered to ‘hook me up’ with a cool blog and all (including my very interesting blog name – go ask her what a schmoo is, i’m lost myself), how could i refuse?
so, yes, here it is.
i promise you, there’s a point to my post. at least i will come to a point at some point =)
anyhoos, am now in the middle of my 5 week long easter vac. which according to a supervisor of mine, “is more of a working break, not a vacation”. woo. the excitement of it all!
eiks. buuuttt, let’s not talk about that.
instead, let’s talk abt my barca trip two weeks ago!
firstly, barca was AWESOME.
seriously AWESOME.
it was really fun just hanging out with people all day, not having to worry abt deadlines for supervision work or studying or EXAMS. although, that did come up a few times, but we swiftly changed the subject as soon as the topic of tripos arose.
i don’t have the patience like jings to blog a ‘play by play’ of our trip, so i’ll summarize it.
with pictures of course!
our first meal in barca. let’s not go into the details of how we kena conned. ooh, that’s paella, patrick’s favourite word. and the black one is paella with squid ink. adventurous, ey?
us – natasia, daniel, me, zhongshan, patrick, nicholas with our super yummy gelati! jings and i had the best flavours, if i recall correctly, tiramisu, some chocolate thing and ammeretto (which i think taste lyk ferrero roche)
this was taken at Placa Reial
the guys and their ‘boy band’ pose.
trust me, there’s a lot more from where this came from.
to quote one of the ‘members’, “you should be grateful we allow you to take our pictures! we are going to be damn famous, okay?”
i’m sure =)
this was taken at maremagnum, which is a shopping complex along port vell.
and this is the girl band picture that we took, trying to compete with the guys out of pure kiasuism =D
me, jings, nicks and patrick with a random tree in park guell, which essentially is a park with gaudi’s famous work. don’t know who gaudi is? go wiki him =)
us, still at park guell.
the kuching girls! still at park guell.yes, we did take a LOT of pictures at park guell.
“oh yeah, kch water is really good.” – in reference to the very interesting ‘card game’ we were playing =)
the amazingly AMAZING sagrada familia, which we spent almost 6 hours in. hey, we paid 5 euros to enter, and another 2 to take a wait in queue for almost two hours to take a lift to the top and then walk allll the way down.
but to be fair, it was worth it. the whole place, which btw took 100 hundred years to be built, and isn’t completed yet, is just unbelievable.
view of the sagrada familia on the way down from the top. if your thinking that putting fruits randomly on a church is weird, don’t worry i thought so too. but apparently it represents the fruits of the holy spirit! so yeaps. pretty cool stuff.
this is what happens when the christ college camwhorers steal my camera.
seriously.
jings and i being spastic outside the sf.
we were super fascinated with this awesome vending machine!
so cool right??
outside camp nou – barcelona fc’s stadium. which wasn’t impressive at all. so dissappointing =(
although, we did see samuel eto’o. or at least his car, and caught a slight glimpse of him through his half open windows.
oh and that’s his car. my reflexes are a bit too slow.
our very reliable gps system, in form of patrick and zhongshan.
seriously, the whole time we were in barca, we never got lost, except the time when we wanted to get lost and started wondering into random small streets. its so fun simply because i suck at reading maps and will probably lead everyone into the sea or smth like that. so all you have to do since they are so awesome in map reading, is go “so where are we going now?” and then you just follow, to the metro, on foot.. you get the idea =)
at barcelona’s version of the bridge of sighs
acting cute! and we were trying to get zhong shan to play along but he refused, hence jings did it on his behalf. haha.
on the way to the beach!
exciting!
one of our few group pictures. L – R : Zhongshan, Nicholas, Shuting, Yvonne, Jings, Me, Patrick
we got some what distracted by a huge lobster. uhuh.
at the beach! finally!
where only the girls, with the exception of nicks (see, i’m acknowledging that you are a guy!)were brave enough to step foot into the blue, blue sea. which unfortunately was still icy cold despite the fact the sun was shinning and it was actually warm-ish.
another of gaudi’s creation.
us at the national art museum/olympic stadium place. you can see the city of barcelona behind. well , sort of.
lol.
to be fair, i made her do that =)
while waiting for the ‘flamenco dancers’.
as according to what a spanish man told nicks. haha.
ended up being a good friday parade, which was a tad too morbid for my liking.
“nicholas, you look like an iguana climbing that tree!”
ooh, yeah.
at the arc de triompf on the way to the bus stadium. hence explaining why we were lugging around our luggage in the middle of the night. we are not THAT strange,la.
ah, i’m tired of uploading pictures already. i suppose these will have to suffice. i shall be getting back to is/lm curves. ooh, the joy.
